philip paul bliss.

“husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her” - ephesians 5:25

today i learned that mr. bliss died trying to rescue his wife.

he also wrote some good lyrics! like those for “man of sorrows,” and these:

“Sing, oh sing, of my Redeemer,
With His blood, He purchased me.
On the cross, He sealed my pardon,
Paid the debt, and made me free!”

“guys, unless the girl is your grandmother, your mother, your sister, or a very, very ugly cousin, you are not to ever be alone with a girl.”

For some reason in chapel yesterday, two very different things were going on on stage at the same time.  The cheerleader boys were throwing cheerleader girls in the air, and the SGA band was singing a song about God.

what a day…

-it’s only 1:46… and i finished a massive speech presentation, learned about cedarville’s new mascot, had my last cedarville chapel, saw cheerleaders doing stunts on the stage at the same time the [worship band] was performing a song, got a drink at vecino’s that was made wrong so it was actually a drink worth twice what i paid (I asked about it, so I wasn’t wrongly taking something I didn’t pay for.), deposited my first official paycheck ever, lay out in the courtyard while reading someone a good chapter about the blessing of children from a book from the 1940s, got sunburnt, had philosophy class canceled, may have gotten a babysitting job for the summer, read a book published in 2009 that i snatched from the library maybe before anyone else, got unusual permission to have a sleepover with rachel in printy tonight, tried yet again to figure out how sarah myers does her hair, considered writing a book with anastasia about hairstyles that remind us of biblical women, wore a dress on a day most of cedarville wears jeans and t-shirts, made it back into my dorm before the maintenance men came in

- and still ahead, just today, i can look forward to… that sleepover in printy, watching grant hansen’s senior theatre project, eating an early dinner with anastasia and dale, returning most of my library books for my speech presentation, knocking more off my to-do list

!!!!!!! good day !!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!almost summer!!!!!!!
